In
the Basic Audiology class you learned that the human auditory system
is not equally sensitive at all frequencies. This diagram shows the
average threshold of audibility of young normal hearing listeners
with the thresholds expressed in dB SPL. The threshold of feeling
and the auditory area are also shown. Note that the thresholds of
audibility occur at lower levels (indicating more sensitive hearing)
at frequencies between 1000 and 4000 Hz. |
