About the Authors
Doug Martin Ph.D
Dr. Martin is a Pediatric Audiologist with over 35 years of experience in both clinical and academic settings. He has a Ph.D.
in Audiology from Wichita State University. Currently he is an Educational Audiologist for the Tulare County Office of Education
in Visalia, CA. He previously was an Associate Professor at Portland State University and at the University of Cincinnati where
he served as the Director of the AuD Program in the Communication Sciences and Disorders Department. He has been heavily involved in the
design and development of web-based instructional resources and during his time at the University of Cincinnati he served as the
Director of the Instructional Design unit in the Information Technology Department. He designed, developed and operated the
Student Assessment Management System (or SAMS) website which was used by Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology programs
across the country to manage their students' educational outcome data.
David K. Brown, Ph.D.
Dr. Brown is a Pediatric Audiologist with over 30 years of clinical experience. He has a BA and MA in Speech Pathology & Audiology from Western Washington University and a Ph.D. in Psychology from University of Calgary. Currently he is an Associate Professor and Director of the AuD SIMLab in the School of Audiology at Pacific University and an Adjunct Assistant Professor at the University of Cincinnati Communication Sciences and Disorders. He is interested in the development of screening and diagnostic tools such as Otoacoustic Emissions, Wideband Acoustic Immittance, Evoked Potentials and Auditory Processing Tests. Dr. Brown has lectured across North America, published numerous articles and book chapters on a variety of audiology related topics.
