If an individual's actual
pure tone thresholds were reported in dB SPL, the individual interpreting
the audiogram would have to remember the normal threshold value at
each frequency in order to determine if the actual threshold can be
considered normal or indicative of a hearing loss. While this is not
an impossible task, an easier approach to reporting pure tone thresholds
has been developed. This process involves the use of a normalized
decibel scale. |
